Symrise received the highly-esteemed 2010 BSB Innovation Prize for its cosmetic ingredient SymSitive1609. Symrise’s soothing ingredient SymSitive 1609 took home first prize in the category of Innovative raw materials: naturals/actives. The award was presented on 14 April at this year’s In-Cosmetics trade fair in Paris.
SymSitive 1609 is Symrise’s newest product launch in the field of ingredients for sensitive skin. SymSitive1609 soothes by minimising hypersensitivity reactions of the skin. As shown in a clinical study with 20 subjects, the substance has a significant impact on burning and stinging. Using SymSitive1609 directly lowered Capsaicin-induced stinging and burning below the sensory threshold and immediately had a strong soothing effect on the skin.
Véronique Maurin, global product director of Cosmetics Ingredients, says of the award: ‘Developing new concepts and strategies in the field of cosmetic ingredients is one of Symrise’s core competences. SymSitive1609 is the result of this research activity. The award is also a reflection of our close and productive co-operation with our partners, BRAIN and AnalytiCon Discovery.’
The winners are selected by an independent, international jury consisting of prestigious representatives of the cosmetics industry, including Unilever, La Prairie Group, Procter & Gamble, and Mibelle Cosmetics.
